Highlights

  • Most of IDPs who stayed at shelters returned home although the number of people displaced at hosting families is still high.

Key figure/ Issues

  • The military activity was halted due to cease fire announced on August 26th.

  • The total number of displaced people is estimated to be around 300,000 although precise figure on IDPs staying at informal shelters and host families need some time to be determined as the situation is still unstable.

  • Gaza fishing zone is now extended to 6 nautical miles. The severe limitation imposed to the fishing activity has caused huge economic losses for the fishers.

  • Extraordinary food distribution update: around 570,000 out of 730,000 people have been reached.

  • Fresh food’s prices increased by almost 50% compared to before the crisis.

  • Due to lack of fresh products in Gaza, vegetables and other food commodities have to be massively imported.

  • Potential cases of malnourishment due to the lack of availability and accessibility to fresh food.

  • Up to 720 fishers lost their boats’ gears, thus they are not able to have their livelihoods.
